Morgan Moses, Meadowbrook

Who did Meadowbrook lean on this season when things got tough in the running game?

Morgan Moses.

The 6-7, 332 pound tackle was pivotal to powering the Monarchs (9-3) impressive running game. Whether Torrean Crowell needed short yardage around the goal line or Marcus Spencer was looking to bust off a long run, Moses was the guy they ran behind.

He graded out at over 80 percent on his blocking and had 37 crush blocks for the season on the way to being selected first-team all-region.

Only a junior, Meadowbrook coach Bill Bowles said, “He has all the tools and work ethic to improve.”

Bryant Frazier, Meadowbrook

When playing Meadowbrook the opposing offense always makes sure they know where defensive end Bryant Frazier is.

If you don’t make adjustments the Central District defensive player of the year will make you pay as he is outstanding against the pass and rush.

The Monarchs defensive leader, Frazier led his team to the Central Region, Division 6 title game. Meadowbrook (9-3) lost to Hermitage 33-14 but it was only the second time a team had scored over 20 points all year against them.

The 6-2, 231 pound senior finished the season with 51 total tackles, 17 tackles for a loss, six sacks, two pass break-ups and two blocked kicks. He was named to the second-team all-region squad.

Torrean Crowell, Meadowbrook

This past season Meadowbrook lived and died by the run.

Thanks to Torrean Crowell the Monarchs usually lived.

The 5-11 running back scored 21 touchdowns and had 1,224 yards on 155 attempts. He was Meadowbrook’s go-to player on offense as the Monarchs (9-3) advanced all the way to the Central Region, Division 6 championship before falling to Hermitage.

Crowell, who hopes to play at the next level, was selected first-team all-region at running back and is the third-ranked running back in the Richmond-area according to Position Specifics.

Crowell was not just an offensive threat though as he was first-team all-Central District as a linebacker and was repeatedly called on to cover the opponents best receivers. He finished the season with 42 total tackles (27 solo, 15 assists), three interceptions and four fumble recoveries.
