Baseball Spring Sensations

Whether you want great pitching, power hitting or phenomenal defense the all-DigitalSports baseball team has it.

Our player of the year Austin Stadler (James River) would lead the way on offense as he is one of the most feared hitters in the Central Region.

Stadler would play first base but would also join a tremendous pitching rotation featuring Cosby’s Ronnie Shaban, James River’s Daniel Marrs, Hanover’s Jake Mayers and Henrico’s Seth Cutler-Voltz.

Cosby’s Jake Lowery is our choice to get behind the plate and catch the hurlers.

With Laine Denton (Hanover) at second base, Reed Gragnani (Mills Godwin) at shortstop and Ryan Parker (Cosby) at third it is unlikely many ground balls would be getting out of the infield.

Mills Godwin’s Travis Lane, Manchester’s Blake Hauser and Prince George’s Jackie Bradley form an outfield with speed and strong arms.

And Matt Gwaltney of Matoaca would be the final piece as the designated hitter.

Boys Soccer Spring Sensations

Imagine the opposing team’s faces if the all-DigitalSports boys soccer team showed up to play a match.

The first Spring Sensation they would notice would be player of the year Brian Ownby from Deep Run.

The forward has play making abilities that make him the ultimate offensive threat.

Ownby would be joined up top by Monacan’s Hunter Cheatham and Lee-Davis’ Eduardo Lopez. Both can really make things happen with a soccer ball.

The midfield would be controlled by all-around players Ben Jessee (Cosby), Will Bates (Thomas Dale), Patrick Innes (Thomas Dale) and Bryan Wharton (Deep Run).

Douglas Freeman’s Sean Healy, Deep Run’s Zach Summers and Cosby’s Colin Fitzpatrick make up an intimidating defense that fews ball would get past.

But if one did Deep Run keeper Cameron Murray would surely come up with a big save.
