This is Brittney Grove here at the Henrico Holiday Hoops Classic bringing you the nightcap game between the Meadowbrook Monarchs and the Hermitage Panthers!

FIRST QUARTER

Andrew Simmons converts a Monarch steal into an easy layup, Panthers lead 10-8.

Monarchs take the lead, 11-10, with a three-pointer from Harry West, 2:11 to play.

We’ve got a tough back-and-forth battle.  Monarchs lead 16-15 at the completion of the first quarter.


SECOND QUARTER

Hermitage’s Micah Thomas starts the quarter off with a three-pointer to put the Panthers on top 18-16.

Meadowbrook responds with a slam from Marvin King-Davis and a layup from Andre Coble to reclaim the lead, 20-18.

Both teams looking for offense, Meadowbrook leads, 23-20, with 1:47 left in the half.

Simmons hits a jumper, 25-20 Monarchs.

First half comes to an end with Monarchs on top 28-24.  We’re in store for an exciting second half!

Chris Burnett leads Hermitage with 7 points.  West has 8 for Meadowbrook.


THIRD QUARTER

Jaquan Daily makes the “And-1” play to start the half. Meadowbrook on top 31-24.

Meadowbrook forces a Hermitage time-out with a strong 9-2 run, 5:31 left.

Meadowbrook stretches the lead to 11 with 3:20 left in the third.

Hermitage is trying to battle back with a 3 from Gianna Dailey. Monarchs still up 48-35.

Monarchs use the strong play of Daily to gain some breathing room.  Daily put up 13 in the third quarter alone as the Monarchs scored as many as the did in the first half (28) to lead 56-42.

FOURTH QUARTER

The last quarter after a long opening day…

Devin Morman jams one and gives the fans some excitement!  60-42, Meadowbrook.

Monarchs gain a comfortable lead, 65-45, 4:47 left to play.

Kymon Hannah stripes the ball and lays in an easy 2 for the Panthers.  3:09 left, Meadowbrook 69-49.

Meadowbrook gets the win, 71-59, and will face Douglas Freeman at 7:15 tomorrow!
